Going outside is not an issue for most,
Except when you’re watched by the majority of folks,
Wearing my black veil and a headscarf,
Seems to be an alarming call for some of these punks,
I get funny looks on the train,
As though I am about to blow up and destroy,
My life, my pride & my body.

They dont even know me yet they judge,
How is that fair?
They don’t even know my name,
Yet they choose to stare,
In dismay, in disgust and in fear,
What do they have to be scared of?
The ignorance,
As though they’re looking at a black man and assuming he knows how to use a spear,

This annoys my life,
Coz I don’t know how to react,
Don’t know if I should smile,
Or say ‘Tick Tick Bang’,
Don’t know if I should rant,
And tell them how I feel,
Or if I should give them the finger,
So they know that it’s real,
And tell’em to sit on it,
Coz theres no way I’m strapped,
No way I’m ticking,
No way I’ll go bang.
No way I’ll take lives,
No way I’ll take mine.

Don’t want to go to hell,
Coz it’s not my ambition,
Dont feel to be under God’s wrath,
I’d rather stay in the kitchen.
And prove that I agree,
With the sexism that men talk,
Even to that degree.
Id rather be enslaved,
And tortured continuously,
Than to wear a bomb,
And kill people who,
Boarded a train or bus innocently.

No matter what people think,
Muslims aren’t terrorists,
Our religion does NOT condemn,
Killing of any kind, least of all having the killer be heaven sent.
Islam is a peaceful religion,
It’s a way of life,
Teaches us the noble principles,
Of working hard and avoiding strife,
Of being happy and joyful,
And obedient to our parents,
Of being calm and collected,
Not quarrelling or offensive,
It teaches us prayer,
And how to communicate with Allah,
Though there is no direct response,
We still channel our thoughts,
All our fears,
And all our love,
And all our desires.
We still plead that our sins disappear,
And that our slate be wiped clear.
Though Allah doesn’t speak to us,
He answers our prayers,
If you ask with a clean heart,
And good intentions.

We are given a lot but do nothing in return,
We look at the less fortunate,
But we don’t pay attention,
We see their suffering and needs,
Yet we don’t thank God,
That we are not in that position,
Because we have a lot,
We have more than is necessary,
But he keeps giving,
And we keep consuming,
Not even thinking,
That one day it could stop,
And we’d be just like them,
In a state of pity, and people looking down on us.
Thinking that they are fortunate, not to be in our position,
Still not thanking God,
Not knowing one day they could be reminiscing.

See there’s all these different aspects of life in general,
So why would I end it now?
Not having lived it to it’s maximum potentional,
This is where the joke is on you,
Because I know I will never,
Live life to the fullest,
Death awaits all of us,
And I am yet to find the means,
The means of living a comfortable and happy life,
Not causing drama or a scene,
Not being starred at on buses or trains,
Not having to contemplate trying to explain,
Not wondering what they think of me,
Dressed in all black,
With all my hair covered, and my dignity intact,
With my bag on my shoulder,
And my destination in view,
Knowing that if I want to go to heaven,
That’s not the right route.
